Self-gravitating Yang Monopoles in all Dimensions
The (2k + 2)-dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills equations for gauge group SO(2k) (or SU(2) for k = 2 and SU(3) for k = 3) are shown to admit a family of spherically-symmetric magnetic monopole solutions characterized by a mass m and a magnetic-type charge, the k = 1 case being the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole. The k = 2 case yields a family of self-gravitating Yang monopoles, and for k = 4 we fin...
متن کاملGravitating Yang–Mills fields in all dimensions
A classification of gravitating Yang–Mills systems in all dimensions is presented. These systems are set up so that they support finite energy solutions. Both regular and black hole solutions are considered, the former being the limit of the latter for vanishing event horizon radius. Special attention is paid to systems necessarily involving higher order Yang–Mills curvature terms, along with t...
متن کاملGravitating BPS Monopoles in all d = 4 p Spacetime Dimensions
We have constructed, numerically, both regular and black hole static solutions to the simplest possible gravitating Yang-Mills–Higgs (YMH) in 4p spacetime dimensions. The YMH systems consist of 2p−th power curvature fields without a Higgs potential. The gravitational systems consist of the ‘Ricci scalar’ of the p−th power of the Riemann curvature. In 4 spacetime dimensions this is the usual Ein...
متن کاملGravitating Yang-Mills vortices in 4+1 spacetime dimensions
The coupling to gravity in D=5 spacetime dimensions is considered for the particle-like and vortex-type solutions obtained by uplifting the D=4 YangMills instantons and D=3 Yang-Mills-Higgs monopoles. It turns out that the particles become completely destroyed by gravity, while the vortices admit a rich spectrum of gravitating generalizations. Such vortex defects may be interesting in view of t...
متن کاملGravitating Yang-Mills dyon vortices in 4+1 spacetime dimensions
We consider vortex-type solutions in d = 5 dimensions of the Einstein gravity coupled to a nonabelian SU(2) field posessing a nonzero electric part. After the dimensional reduction, this corresponds to a d = 4 Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs-U(1)-dilaton model. A general axially symmetric ansatz is presented, and the properties of the spherically symmetric solutions are analysed.
